So I'm not sure how, but they sure improved the internet access on the train since last time. The ping times are obviously still too high to make it really effective for interactive remote usage (min 500ms, averaging about 750ms), but the packet loss is way down and the connection is a lot more consistent. I downloaded a relatively large file and it went very quick, and web browsing seems more than adequate. This could be a big time waster for me...:-) It is nice to be able to grab some files or a quick peice of javadoc while on the train though; it sucks to try and grab everything you need, forget one small library or something, and be stuck for 2 hours making no progress.
