The "Butt Ugly" weblog says that spam's not the big problem, "real" email is. I couldn't agree more. Bogofilter makes short work of spam, but my time and brain is the only thing that will make any headway against the ~3000 messages in my inbox at work waiting for me when I get back to work. Somewhere out there there's a trainable email filter for categorizing emails. I wonder if that could be bent to train it for messages that you consider more important, rather than other categories. I'll have to find that thing...
Update:I was thinking of ifile. There is also dbacl, and others. I think this idea might really have some legs, but I don't think I get enough home email to make it work, and at work we use exchange/outlook, which would make doing this a royal pain.
